...and I'm really glad my mattress is on the floor.*

I got season 4 and 5 of the x-files. My weird computer dvd player will only play certain dvds and will spit out anything it doesn't like.

Why oh why couldn't it have kicked out disc one?

The episode is called "Home". Seems harmless enough. The blurb doesn't really imply anything to scary. So in it goes.

*ACK*

I should have stopped watching when the legless mother was giving bloody birth on a dirty kitchen table or when the inbred family beat the sheriff and his wife to death, or when they pulled hideous, screaming, legless mother out from under a bed...oh wait I did stop watching then.

I did a google search and read that it was the only x-files episode to get an "MA" rating and the network said they would never show it again (they did).

Apparently her sons kept legless mother strapped to a rolling board *under the bed so they could procreate with her and carry on their inbred family line.

The episode is interesting, it's just not something I should be watching in a dark, quiet, new apartment.

So now I'm going to watch Harry Potter and try and get the image of the mother out of my head. *shudder*

Yeah!! Everytime I picture him in my head (which is too often unfortunately :P) I picture the oompa loompa from the Johnny Depp version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!!

You have a MLP icon :P

hee, i remember that one. i *think* it's from the later season, because i seem to remember doggett in it. if you're looking to avoid it again anyway... yes super scary! small things that move fast while close to the ground - it must be some subconscious psych prob humans have. like, i know mice aren't really anything to be afraid of, but i scream like a little girl when i see one moving.

Oh yeah :) We got a kitten for xmas and it has made me a nervous wreck!! It hides behind things just waiting for me to walk past then it attacks.. and it doesnt just grab my foot, it springs halfway up my leg then starts climbing up my clothes.. The first time it did it I dropped to the floor screaming my head off flailing around like a moron trying to get it off :P

Now, see, Home didn't freak me out too much.
But grey aliens terrify me. So I haven't seen some episodes, or I made Jason (who hates the show) watch them with me while I had my eyes closed.
Personally I always enjoyed the "monster of the week" ones more than the mythology ones.
Although the liver eating guy (Toomes?) really freaked me out. That was the first episode I saw.
*nice happy MLP icon*

No, I try to avoid greys at all cost. Really sucks that they're popular. Went to a haunted house years ago that had an alien room, with someone in costume standing by the door. I just shut my eyes and hung on to the person in front of me.

unquestionably the creepiest x-files ep ever, and doubly so due to the complete lack of supernatural factor. just fucked up people being super nasty!

the one miz jenna mentions, i saw as well and that was a true return to creepy form for the x-files in its later seasons. i remember it was mainly doggett and scully wasn't in it much. scary!

The un-supernatural ones were the best I think.. :)

Anyhoo, did you survive the night m'dear?? Or did creepy little legless people come to get you??

What's sad is, I've become so numb to the X-Files that the episode doesn't faze me at all anymore. DO NOT watch it again without lots of friends around. And never become numb to it like me. ;) *HUGS*

OMG! That is my favorite X Files episode! I saw that the first time it aired and it was soooooo disturbing - and I was officially hooked on the show. That is some of the best tv ever made!

That is indeed the scariest episode of the X-Files, and perhaps the most disturbing hour of fiction television ever broadcast.

"You don't know the pride"

I couldn't believe Fox broadcast it, but they did so only once. Afterwards they never showed it on broadcast TV again.

FX did show it again, but that's not broadcast TV.
